Levi and Minu’s big dream is coming true! They're the first queer couple to be allowed to take part in the "Hygge" reality show. An escape from the uncertain reality of an indeterminate future, "Hygge" depicts an idealised world set in 2025, where everything revolves around having children. But amidst the little competitions in which the couples face off against one another, cracks begin to show. Contrary to what the pair had hoped, the production team has decided that Levi is to carry the baby instead of Minu. The producers also dictate what can and cannot be discussed. While Minu is increasingly present, and moderator Marijke wants to make her a star, Levi feels a growing desire to break free. But where can she go, when real life isn’t an option? The directors, in their joint feature film debut, use the setting of a nostalgic game show to take a satirical look at our present day reality, with its media stereotypes and the capitalist promise of self-fulfilment.
