Even as a young man, Tero did not really want to live. Then he unexpectedly becomes a father … Fifteen years later, he is a single father, living with his son Henri in a small house in a remote Finnish village. The two have their own way of showing affection – as they cook, during target practice, in the car together, or while felling trees. Another constant in their life are visits to Tero’s parents, who live nearby. But Tero himself only comes along when he has not yet drunk too much beer. When he is drunk, he talks about his sorrow with Henri, who really doesn’t want to hear it anymore, even though he loves his father. When Henri brings his first girlfriend home, the dynamic in the house shifts. On the one hand, Tero is relieved that Henri is different than he was at that age, and is apparently eager to embrace life and women. Yet at the same time, the older man’s loneliness grows. With a raw and close-up approach, director Jukka Kärkkäinen has made a long-term observational film about this unique father-son relationship.
