The Boy Next Door

Linnéa, age 33, is a journalist working for television news. One day she recognises one of the guests – her childhood sweetheart Anton – someone who disappeared from her life twenty years ago. Back when he was seventeen, he was officially her older sister's boyfriend, but Linnéa had a special relationship with him. She starts investigating and gradually realises that he had a very good reason for breaking off contact. Anton, who is now married and has a family of his own, has hebephilia: he is sexually attracted to pubescent girls between the ages of eleven and thirteen. He's spent his whole life trying not to become an offender and kept his preference a secret from his own family. But then one of his sons befriends a twelve-year-old girl. The topic of paraphilia is very sensitive. This series delicately explores the consequences this disorder has for the two families – from the perspectives of both the near-victim and the near-offender – as well as ways of preventing it. We're screening the entire series in two slots as the German premiere.
