Thirteen-year-old Honey does the laundry, tries to make the flat pretty, and takes care of her sister, who has Down Syndrome, while her mother works double shifts. Honey also helps her father when he’s once again in trouble with the law, and she never complains. Only when she plays the ukelele can she just be herself. She lies about her dysfunctional family at her new school and secretly dreams that one day she’ll play in her classmate Liam’s band. When Honey learns that her supposedly dead grandfather is alive after all, and likes music just as much as she does, she begins to pay him secret visits. Being with the old man awakens something in her. Will Honey stand up for herself by confronting her family and her class with her true self? Director Natasha Arthy puts family challenges, loss, and the courage to raise one’s voice at the centre of her entertaining feel-good movie. The prize-winning film is loosely based on the children’s book “Hest, hest, tiger, tiger” (horse, horse, tiger, tiger) by Mette Eike Neerlin, who co-wrote the script.
