Prange

Feature-length film, Germany 2025

Available on 11/5/25, 6:00 PM
Ralf Prange lives with his cheeky grey parrot in a ground floor flat in a typical brick building in Hamburg-Barmbek. Since he’s always home, he accepts packages for the entire neighbourhood. The good-hearted grouch doesn't much enjoy this task – until one day, new postwoman Dörte rings his doorbell. Prange is smitten, an unfamiliar feeling for the lifelong bachelor. He begins to order all kinds of things on the internet so he can see Dörte – much to the amusement of his neighbour Horst, who shares decades of animosity with Prange. Though pragmatic Dörte doesn't seem disinclined, Prange is his own worst enemy. Lars Jessen's comedy, based on the book by comedy writer Andreas Altenburg, looks at loneliness and social interaction in the big city. Prange has a lot of catching up to do, but it is ultimately his love-hate relationship with his neighbours that makes him believe in himself, and in love.
