The mummified skeleton of an infant is found in the attic of 87-year-old Martha’s house. To the astonishment of Martha’s family, her estranged daughter, Tina, and her adult granddaughters Rikke and Anso, Martha claims it is her child, confesses to a crime, and wishes to accept the punishment for it. However Rikke, a lawyer, is determined to find out what actually happened. As the Covid pandemic slowly starts spreading, presenting people with new challenges, Tina discovers inexplicable patterns in the mudflats of sparsely populated Jutland … Some things smoulder away, hidden for generations, just getting bigger over time.
