Helsinki, 1927. Eleven-year-old Stina has tuberculosis, a disease that was often fatal at the time. But she is lucky. Even though her family is desperately poor, she gets a spot at Dr Hagman’s renowned sanatorium, Raspberry Hill. The clinic is in an imposing castle on an idyllic Finnish-Swedish island, and Stina feels like she’s landed in a fairy tale. But who is the peculiar woman who pleads with Stina and her two roommates to go home? And what about the strange boy who introduces himself as Ruben and reads Stina’s copy of the horror story Frankenstein in her room at night? Stina begins to suspect that the sanatorium harbours a horrible secret. She starts to investigate the strange happenings and is soon staring into an abyss of greed and megalomania. Will Stina’s courage be her downfall? Saara Cantell’s mystery thriller is based on the prizewinning novel by Eva Frantz. It was broadcast as a three-part miniseries by the Finnish television network Yle Arenan.
