The Quiet Beekeeper

Feature-length film, Sweden 2026

Available on 11/4/26, 6:00 PM
It all begins with a wedding. Olof is happy for his sister, but he’s still sad and withdrawn. He lost his wife not long ago; their daughter Lise is now fourteen. She can’t wait to leave the small town – and her father’s melancholia. The two live out their separate lives under the same roof, never finding the words for what actually connects them: their grief over losing someone they loved. While Lisa hangs out with her friends, Olof, a beekeeper like his ancestors, spends most of his time caring for his hives. The lucid images, the constant humming, and the peaceful nature of rural Sweden create a quiet backdrop for the conflict between father and daughter. When Olof becomes seriously ill, suddenly confronted with his own mortality, they must find a way to break their silence. A story of two people suddenly in search of words for one another.
